BBQ party at my place? WTF?

After living in the Valley (Charlton's own home ground..lol) for around 10 years, I had never tried having a BBQ at the valley, usually heading to Pasir Ris park or something.

Last friday, I tried it.

It was...

Fun. ^_^

Seriously, with a tap right beside the pit, you can't go wrong, where unlike Pasir Ris park, you need to head to the sea to wash your hands if you are too damn lazy to head to the toilet located 200m away. My house was pretty much used as an outpost, but it's alright.

What pissed me off a little was the damned council members. We started throwing water bombs around for fun, and it was fun. However, the council members just could not stand the sight of 18 year olds enjoying themselves, as they themselves spent their childhood in some sweat shop, decided to stop us.

Oh well.

_|_ to them.

But still, the main attraction of the night was...

KHAI WAN!

The poor bugger decided, for some unknown reason, to drink a full cup of vodka in one gulp or something. Heck, even though I pride myself in the ability to drink a bit more then others, I don't think I will be able take THAT.

So, the result is the poor guy lying on the floor for two whole hours or something, missing out the entire party.

Man, I don't fancy that hangover he had.....

Oh well. All in all, it was fun. I enjoyed it.

Music piracy, our fault, or the company's fault?

An article in the Sunday Times today showed that you can't buy music online via the Itunes, since it does not support the local credit card companies. Worse yet, the other sites which has support for local credit card allows people to download songs in a wma format, one which cannot be read by the Ipod.

So, is it our fault that everyone uses Kazaa (outdated, BTW. Kazaa sucks thanks to RIAA), Morpheus, Limewire and BitTorrent?

Yeah, it probably is, but then again, the music companies, and those who sell CDs should take a bit of blame as well.

Let's see..HMV. The place to get Anime music/GameOSTs since most other places don't stock them, sells 2 CDs at an insane price of $60. I remember Popular having the Final Fantasy X CDs (4 CDs) for a little under $30 for some reason. I gladly snapped up the FFX OST in popular, while placing the FF Antalogy back into it's place in HMV. Since there isn't much choice left, I had to turn to other means, namely using my BitTorrent Credit Card to buy the music.

And it isn't just the prices. Some people buy CDs just for a single song or something, which, as many has said, is a waste of money. It wastes space, and collects dust after a while. So why bother? Just download that one song which you feel that is nice, and everything is cool. No need to waste space, no need to spend money.

So, what about those sites which allow you to buy songs? I remember thebrain's(or some other LTU member) MSN nick which pretty much was swearing at Napster or something, since there are plenty of limits, such as the inability to transfer the mp3 through too many computers and that crap. Buying a song that has too many limits..? What's the point of even buying in that case? Just download it, since the companies are being a little dumb.

So, is it really our fault that the CD sales are going down? Those companies blame Internet, and our current generation, but why don't they look at themselves? Pricing CDs at insane prices, artists forced to make huge albums when all we need is one miserable song from them, and to produce so much "The VERY VERY ABSOLUTELY SUPER VERY BEST of 2005", when we already have the songs/CDs. Nobody buys those! >_>

It isn't just our fault. We, as consumers, have been pushed and bullied by these recording companies since the 1970s. The internet has given us a source of hope, a gateway away from the Tyranny of these devils. They were the ones who pushed us this far, so, they should be the ones to look at first.

After all, look at yourself before pointing the finger at someone else.
